Motors come with 6’ motor cable. 12’ and
24’ motor cables are available.
The standard crank handle size for exterior screens
is 55”. For screens with interior cranks, the
standard crank handle size is 48”. You might need
a larger or smaller size crank handle depending on your
screen height. Call us for more information. Note: Unless
your order reads otherwise, all units will be built
as an exterior crank unit.
Measuring
When measuring for interior shades we recommend that
you measure across the top the middle and the bottom
of the window and provide us the smallest size. We will
make the shades at the exact width dimension that you
give us.
Tracks and Cables
Tracks or cables can be used on Sierra, Cascade, and
Vertical Drop units. Track covers to cover up the crack
between the fabric and the track are also available.
The track covers can be used on units that are 14’
wide or less.
Olympic screens are shipped with an Olympic track and
weight bar. Olympic units smaller than 14’ in
width can use a Sierra weight bar and track. Cables
are available for the larger Olympic weight bar.
Measuring
Sierras screens should be a minimum of 2” wider
on each side of the window, 6” above and 2”
below. To measure coupled units correctly, start from
the outside. Begin 2” outside the window to the
center of the mullion, and then measure from the center
of mullion to 2” outside the window frame. The
following is an example of how you order should be written:
60”+60”wx 72”
Cascades screens should be a minimum of 3” wider
on each side of the window, 6” above and 2”
below.
When using the Olympic weight bar and track, the Olympics
screens should be a minimum of 3” wider on each
side of the window, 7” above and 3” below.
Vertical Drop screens are measured differently from
other exterior screen products. There is a bushing and
some bolt heads that will extend ¾” of
an inch beyond your final measurement. Vertical Drops
are used frequently on decks, between posts and from
beam to floor. If you are mounting from “outside
post to outside post”, measure 2” wider,
6” above, and 2” below. If a unit is going
between two posts, please speak with us before placing
your order, as we have different deductions for those
units. When using a crank, there will be an additional
½” spacer on the crank end of the unit
so that your crank handle will not hit the post or wall.
Widths
A Sierra or Cascade shade can be made using one piece
of fabric up to 12’ wide. In a coupled unit, the
width of the box cannot be wider than 23’-10”.
An Olympic or Vertical Drop can be made using one piece
of fabric up to 16’ wide. Olympic and Vertical
Drop units can be coupled together.
Height
A Sierra and Cascade shade using some screen fabric
can have up to a 14’ drop. With acrylic fabric,
up to an 7’ drop. Olympic or Vertical drop shades
using screen fabric can have up to a 20’ drop.
With acrylic fabric, up to a 16’ drop.
Fabrics
Natte, Satine, Ferrari and Acrylic are standard fabrics.
Note: There are some height limitations with Acrylic
fabrics. Alternate fabric options are available. Call
us for more information.
Seams
Whenever possible, EGE System will make a screen without
a seam, as long as one of the measurements is less than
the width of the raw fabric. Check the fabric page in
the EGE System Price book to review the widths of the
fabrics. Call us for more information, if needed.
When a screen unit requires a seam, it is our standard
practice to place the seam as high as possible on the
unit. If you want the seam to be placed at a specific
location, measure from the bottom of the tracks to the
center of the seam location that you want. Do not measure
from the top of the box. If you have two side-by-side
windows and one window needs a seam and the other does
not, you might want to consider having EGE System sew
a seam in both windows so they match each other visibly
from the inside. More than one seam may be required
on shades covering very tall windows. |
